Communication Is Connecting!

Published by Lisa Kitter at 8:11 pm under Communication

Another great thing to think about when communicating is, “am I connecting with this person?” In other words, are you coming from your heart and more importantly, do they feel as though you’re coming from your heart?

Many times I am asked to train on the topic of “Prospecting With Posture” and when I do, I am often asked if I’m being too cold, too formal or if I am being too business like to the prospect. My response is always the same, heck no! Yes, I am direct and yes, I am assertive but I am also friendly, without being sappy, upbeat and I’m coming from my heartfelt center. The right people will pick up on my connectiveness and the people who don’t…Well, they weren’t meant to and that is not about me…It is about them!

Connecting doesn’t mean being a wet noodle or a yes, yes, yes, person. It means you care about the other person, about yourself, about your business and so forth. You care enough to be direct. You care enough to be honest. You care enough to say no when necessary. Wowee….no dancing around the may pole and hoping people can read between the lines? Absolutely not! We’re communicating here and not playing “guess what I mean” games.

There is a way to connect in business, personally and in life. A way that expresses your real feelings and thoughts without squashing someone elses. It’s called coming from your heart center and being compassionately direct!

More on this exciting topic tomorrow.
