Mindset and Success in Business
Personal growth, abundance, health, and fulfilling relationships are all a part of being a complete success in network marketing/direct sales. As you progress towards success in our industry it’s crucial that you begin to look, and I mean really look at your relationship with money.
You might wonder why money and mindset are being addressed so early in this guidebook. There is a simple and most important answer.
You are in business or perhaps considering a home based business. If you have challenges with money (asking for it/accepting it) you will have difficulty creating a profitable business.
The first thing to look at is money in general, your money. How much are you generating from your home-based enterprise? A little? A lot? None? Has your relationship with money been good or acceptable up until this point but now that you’ve got your own business the cash flow has come to a screeching halt? Now, why in the world does that happen? I have a couple of thoughts that I will share with you.
• When you work for someone else and receive a salary or wage you have a certain comfort level that is easily maintained through moderate effort. That’s a guaranteed income and that’s what can be counted on with a job.
When you are involved in a home-based enterprise you suddenly have no ceiling as to the amount of money you can earn! No ceiling and no income guarantee either.
When you work for someone else you are confident in your own abilities to “keep the job.” After all, you sold someone on yourself when you were hired!
When the success of your entrepreneurial endeavor rests solely and squarely on your shoulders you must suddenly, “sell yourself” on your capabilities. Who knows your limitations and abilities more so than you?
It’s a scary thing to realize there is “no kidding” yourself and no point in “kidding” anybody else because they really don’t care. You’re truly responsible for the whole enchilada going south or going to the top!
Let’s take this a step further by saying that when many people realize it is survival of the fittest time they freeze up and become scared and emotional wrecks, I did it and I know several of you have too!
Suddenly, every insecurity we have ever experienced becomes a big red, glowing blotch smack in the middle of our faces. It’s as though we who have college degrees, years of customer service, sales skills, and an array of other empowering attributes suddenly feel helpless, alone and extremely incompetent.
It’s as though we’re walking on a tight rope called “Life” and all is well as long as the safety net (the job) is underneath us. We are capable, confident and can walk the tightrope with our eyes open or closed but then the safety net is taken away and even though our skills remain intact our confidence level is somehow reduced by the sheer fact that the net is no longer below us.
When we had the net, mentally we felt like we were covered and somehow more secure. When you’re on your own in the home-based enterprise world there is no safety net. Your skills are the same and your abilities haven’t changed at all but your perceptions of the dangers in the situation have changed drastically. Where you used to skip and lightly dance across the tightrope you now fumble, crawl and struggle to stay on top of it!
Listen gang, every bit of it is mental! It’s all about your mindset!

You hit the “nail right on the head” - it seems when I started working from home I had the confidence even though it may have been false in a sense but when everything is riding on it …it seems 10 times harder to produce than when it was a “hobby”. Thank you for the mindset change it does not seem to take much to shake my foundation although I believe with all my heart that this will end in success…once I get past the money issue.
