The Balancing Act of a Home Business - Part 2
Okay, it was clear that changes were required, but where could I begin to regain what seemed like a life totally out of control and what was to be my first step? I felt I was spread so thin in every area of my life.
I thought those were good questions to ask myself, but the answers didn’t come easily. In fact, my life felt like a 1000 piece puzzle that had been splashed onto a table, with pieces that were upside down, right side up, some scattered on the floor, and all of them out of order.
The metaphor of a 1000 piece puzzle was good for me to use, because it not only represented the many pieces of my life that seemed to be disorganized and scattered all over the place, it represented knowing the puzzle pieces could be put together to form a beautiful picture.
If order could be brought to the puzzle pieces, I could do the very same thing with the many pieces of my life. I was beginning to feel energized!
The first thing I did was not to look at my life as being in chaos, a mess, and out of control. Instead, I saw a beautiful life with many possibilities that I chose to experience differently.
Now, what does that mean in the middle of what seemed to be a lot of chaos? It means I realized what a beautiful life I had and with some changes here and a few changes there, made with tender loving care, I could create a beautiful picture that I enjoyed for myself. Remember, mindset is the key.
Okay, first step…I committed daily to reading or listening to something empowering. Reading or listening to something empowering an important first step, because it not only sets the tone for the day, it’s an important ingredient in building a strong foundation of self-belief. It is also, a great first step to go back to if you feel yourself getting off track in your thinking.
When I first started my business, I committed to 20 minutes a day, but that changed quickly, because I began to feel so wonderful, so strong, and so empowered. I was like a sponge; absorbing everything I could to make myself feel self-confident and great. I loved the feeling of knowing I could do anything I decided to do and to realize my success and growth was all about personal choice.
Needless to say, I changed my commitment to a minimum of 30 minutes a day, with more than that usually being the case.
