We Are Naturally Creative

8 May 2006 29 views One Comment

We are naturally quite creative as small children and later as teenagers many of us were very creative! How come we seem to lose our creative abilities as we get older? I believe it is because we are programmed to think “I can’t” instead of “I can” once we hit adulthood. Think about it, when you tell a friend that you plan to buy an expensive car someday or that you will become a millionaire, what is their first reaction? Are they excited and supportive of your dreams or do they immediately scuff at the idea and give you all the reasons why it won’t work? More than likely you have experienced the latter reaction when sharing your goals with friends and even family.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think everybody you know laughs at your ambitions however if your family is like mine, you may be the joke of the family because of your lofty goals! I certainly had my fair share of snickers and stop dreaming kinds of conversations from well meaning friends and family members.

So, how do we tune out our nay saying friends and move forward towards creating our dreams and visions? We don’t listen to people who haven’t accomplished what we are determined to accomplish, for starters! And secondly, we move forward fearlessly because we know not everyone is willing or able to achieve greatness but their is exceptions to every rule and we are that exception!

We dream and we act on those dreams. We gain supporters of our goals and surround ourselves with people who support our ambitions. We tune out the nay sayers because we have a plan, a dream and an unfailing resource of creativity to tap into! We see it, we believe it and therefore we will achieve it!

Read, Think & Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill and focus on your creative side to accomplish all you have ever desired!

    Lisa,

Thankfully, my “creativity” reappeared with my 40th birthday. :) I think it’s no coincidence that my penchant for caring more what others think of me than what I think of me disappeared at the same time!

Today I know that the most important opinion about me is MY OWN, as I am the only person I will be with my entire life. Not that others’ opinions aren’t important to me - they are, but no longer to the exclusion of my own.

    :)
